Oftentimes I find myself thinking… how do I glorify God in this situation? How do I walk through this with grace? How do I walk with Jesus daily when I am struggling with my chronic illnesses, weakness, and even the isolation? James 4:8 gives us a way.
“8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
Draw near Him. Cleanse your hands and purify your hearts. In other words, love what He loves, confess areas He doesn’t, and turn from them. Focus on Him.
I realized something that helped me understand. My mom and I are close friends (as she is with all of us children – we are blessed). She and I look very much alike to the point that there was a time in the hospital when the nurse mistook me for her. Seriously. I have also been told that I have many of her mannerisms. While we do not always agree, we do strive to respect and love each other. We live a ways apart, but spend time together as often as we can. Because we are so close, I often know how she would respond in a situation or, as I was growing up, how she and my dad would want me to respond in a situation. Why? We have a close relationship. It comes naturally for me to know what they expected and how they wanted me to live.
It is the same with God. Draw near to Him. Focus on Him. Our close relationship will help us to know how to respond, how to walk with Him.
We would like to get to know you better to better connect with, support, and encourage you. Would you take a couple minutes to fill out this survey?
