Wednesday Walk

Yesterday, strangers made my day. The last few weeks have been good, busy, and a health flare. The combination isn’t good. I was struggling. But, I needed to go to the Secretary of State. Any time in crowds and a place with a lot of allergens (for me) can cause illness and an allergic reaction. I must limit my time in these places. When I arrived, they were busy. Even with an appointment, I knew it was going to tax my endurance.

But, a kind lady opened doors for me to make life just a touch easier. Every worker was kind and patient despite the long lines. Then, several people allowed me to go in front of them when our appointment time was called due to my obvious difficulty walking. I did my best to express my gratefulness. Their kindness made my day!
What does this have to do with our Wednesday Walk? I was challenged as I pondered their kindness. How often do I focus more on my needs and struggles than on the struggles of others. It made me think of what Jesus did knowing He would be arrested. He washed the disciples feet. While dying, He ministered to the thief on the other cross.
I don’t know if these people know Jesus or not. However, they showed kindness in the midst of their busy day. Am I willing to pause in my day to show people Jesus? Am I more concerned for my schedule/needs or showing Jesus? What is my focus?
May we walk in His footsteps.
