Daily Dose of Encouragement: More Like Jesus, Part 35

This study is loosely based on the study More Like Jesus from Not Consumed.

Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost, who don’t know God. Luke 15 shows this in three different stories. We are going to read these stories over the next few days.

Luke 15:1-7

“15 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who gave His life for the sheep. Notice that the shepherd leaves the comfortable to go search for the sheep who is lost. Notice that the sheep did not have to earn the love of the shepherd. The shepherd loved and cared for the sheep when it was lost, going a wrong way.

Jesus loves us enough to find us when we are going the wrong way. He gave up all to love us and bring us to Him. As we become more like Jesus, we should also love people enough to leave our comfort zones and bring them to Jesus. We should love them as they are, wanting them to learn of Jesus.

How can we do that as isolated people? Reach out to those whom God brings across your path whether that is the medical staff, delivery drivers, or caregivers. Jesus can use us to show His love to others.
