This study is loosely based on the study More Like Jesus from Not Consumed.
Do you ever feel that you are not good enough for Jesus? Do you feel as if you need to be perfect to come to Him? Be assured. Jesus did not come for the righteous, the perfect who don’t need Him, but for the ones who know they need Him.
All of us are sinners. Every person needs Him, but feel they are perfect or that they must make themselves perfect. The scribes and Pharisees in the Bible felt they were good and above others.
As Jesus spent time with others, the scribes and Pharisees murmured against Him. He explained why He had come.
“27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
28 And he left all, rose up, and followed him.
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.
30 But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
What does this mean for us in becoming more like Him? We must realize our need for repentance, our need for Him, and come to Him for forgiveness and help. If you would like to know more about Jesus and having a relationship with Him, please contact us here or in our Facebook group.
