Daily Dose of Encouragement: More Like Jesus, Part 5

This study is loosely based on the study More Like Jesus from Not Consumed.

Jesus was born, but did not stay a baby. He grew in wisdom with God’s grace on Him.

Luke 2:40

“40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.”

Luke 2:52

“52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

As we learn to be more like Jesus, it makes me think we should always be growing in Him, always striving to become more wise and more in love with God. He is our example. During His childhood and growing up years, we don’t read of any great miracles that He was doing or amazing things that were happening. Jesus was growing and getting stronger in every way.

This growth in God made me think of my plants. My amaryllis plant is currently in the basement hanging out in its dormant phase. It needs this time to grow. Then, I thought of this time of being “set aside” in my own life as my health requires it. The days can be long and lonely, but what if this is a growing time for me, for all of us set aside? Soon, we will bring up the amaryllis and watch it grow strong and healthy again as it brings us joy. Our time to be strong and health or bring joy in another way may be coming as well.

May God use this growing time to make us more like Jesus in every way, to grow closer to God. Don’t discount what He may be doing!
