This tip may be a bit different from what you think.
“Do your best.”
By this, I mean to do the best you can, not the best someone else can or the best you used to be able to do.
Yesterday, I went for a walk outside for the first time this season. My walk was slow, but steady. I was joking with my nephew (a competitive runner) that he simply could not match my speed. (Truthfully, I don’t think he can walk that slowly. Ahem.) I can’t do what he does. I do my best, not his best. The walk was a victory for me. Some days, my condition makes five minutes of exercise a complete victory. Some days thirty minutes is possible. Both days I can be giving it my best. My job it so be a good steward of the strength God gives me that day.
Another example could be eating healthy or doing housework. Do the best you can with your circumstances and resources. We often hear the influencers stating that you must eat a certain way or you are not healthy or that it is a waste to get pre-cut vegetables (or insert whatever product). The truth is that some of us cannot afford to eat that way, or we must get prepped vegetables or meals due to our limitations. Do the best you can for your circumstances. Truly, these decisions for you (and your family) are between you and God.
We could also add “Do your best now.” It is easy to compare ourselves to what we used to be able to do, not what we can do now. Do your best today.
Truly, doing our best now is basically a stewardship of what God has given us. To compare ourselves to others results in either pride or feelings of inadequacy.
Do your best!
