Daily Dose of Encouragement: Prayer, Part 19

In studying prayer this week, I was reading Exodus 1415. There is so much richness there that we could spend a long time on the chapters. God’s power in answering prayer and anguished heart cry is so evident. We are going to look at some highlights of the two chapters in relation to prayer.

To start the chapter, we see Moses and God conversing.

Stop. God is talking to Moses. That in itself makes me stop in wonder and awe.

What was God telling Moses? He was telling Moses where to lead the children of Israel who were leaving Egypt and letting Moses know that the Egyptians were going to go after them. They were going to be up against the Red Sea with the Egyptians behind them. God was putting them in the exact place He needed them although it would be hard.

The people were scared and cried out to God. They were so scared that they thought going back to slavery was better than where they were at.

Although Moses didn’t know how God was going to work, he knew that God would work. Verses 13-14 stand out to me.

“13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Selah.

Oh. Wow. Moses had complete faith in God. He had just spoken with God, spent time with God. He trusted Him completely and realized that they could do nothing. They were totally reliant on God. He knew God would come through.

What are you up against today? “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
