Daily Dose of Encouragement: Prayer, Part 15

I have found that living with chronic illness and disability can leave me a bit overwhelmed when the tasks of the week exceed the strength that I know I have, when the bills are outrunning my checkbook, and when life just gets a bit chaotic. You know, the weeks (or days) when we have multiple medical appointments, when survival tasks pile up as strength has not come. Or, the weeks when the days stretch on and on forever and loneliness threatens to overwhelm. All of these things can weigh us down.

Something I am working on reminding myself to do this year is to pray about whatever it is that is getting overwhelming. These verses are helping me keep my mind where it needs to be.

Philippians 4:6-8

“6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

We may spend a couple days on these verses, but for today let’s turn our eyes upon Jesus!
