Daily Dose of Encouragement: Luke 10

Luke 10 has so much in it. For the sake of time, we are going to look briefly at three different parts of it. I encourage you to read meditate on the entire chapter.

Jesus is giving instruction which applies to our lives.

  • Luke 10:2, “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”
  • Luke 10:27, “27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”
  • Luke 10:38-42, “38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

What do you see as a theme through these verses? What is Jesus teaching us? How does the lesson of Mary and Martha apply to us as we are unable to “do” like we may want? How can we apply this to our lives as those who are isolated?

Pray. Love others. Sit and learn at Jesus’ feet. Jesus is teaching us how to live for Him. May we meditate on it and live it out today – with His strength!
