Daily Dose of Encouragement: Luke 1

Welcome December!

As we start this month in which we celebrate our Savior’s birth, we will be reviewing the life of Christ through the book of Luke. If you read one chapter of Luke a day through the month of December, you will finish on Christmas Eve.

As per usual, we will stroll through the book in our “Daily Dose of Encouragement” looking at one poignant topic. I encourage you to dig deeper throughout the month.

Today, we are looking at Luke 1:35-37 as the angel is telling Mary about Jesus’ coming. I love verse 37.

“35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

Jesus is coming. Both Mary and Elisabeth’s lives (and their families’ lives) were going to be turned upside down by His coming. Jesus’ coming still changes lives today.

God was making the impossible possible. Mary is the one chosen to give birth to the Messiah. Elisabeth will have her long-awaited child. Wow. Jesus’ coming changed everything!

How has Jesus changed your life?

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!
