If you are like me, nervousness creeps in with new doctors. I will either overshare or get tongue-tied when I go. My conditions are complex and fight each other. Something I have done the last few times has helped tremendously and doctors seem to appreciate it.
Make a list.
Yes, that simple. Make a list.
Include any pertinent background, important things you have learned living with your condition, and what you need that appointment. I included any scripts that needed refilling since this was a new doctor, but only because my other doctor in that specialty retired.
Make a copy of this list for both you and the doctor. It made a huge difference this time.
