Daily Dose of Encouragement: Joshua 3:9-10, Romans 7:19-25

Victory.

We all want victory in our lives. Yet, I fail. I find myself so often agreeing with Paul in Romans 7:19-25,

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

It is so easy to let bad habits, worrisome thoughts, complaining, and selfishness take over when we are weak, tired, and in pain. However, we can have victory in Christ. Oh, not by trying to do it in our own strength, but in His strength. He has given us victory.

Listen to what Joshua says to the children of Israel about God giving victory in Joshua 3:9-10,

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the Lord your God.

10 And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.”

He will not fail to drive out the enemies and bring victory. He does it, not us in our own strength. Oh, what wonderful promises.

Praise God for victory!
