Daily Dose of Encouragement: James 4:8

This past week/weekend was simply wonderful. From time with a friend and my mom to a trip to the orchard to choosing fall produce to preserve, it was a much needed trip out of the house and not to a medical appointment. Knowing how much my mom and friend had put into the trip so that I could safely go meant even more.

The next couple days were spent prepping, cooking, and freezing the food for the year. As I did, I turned off all of my devices and just spent the time talking to our Father as my hands busily prepared the food that He had provided. It was a peaceful and wonderful time.

Yes, it was a lot of work and is taking recovery time, but the peace and joy of having the time with God was worth it. It made me think that we need to spend more time with our Father that way.

It made me think how much me miss with all of our distractions of today. Would this allow us more time to pray, to just be with God?

James 4:8a, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

It reminded me of my Grandma’s favorite song, “In the Garden”.
