In my devotion time, I have been reading through Matthew.
Matthew 14:14-21 shows Jesus feeding 5,000 men plus women and children with five loaves and two fish with 12 baskets left over for the disciples.
Wow. The disciples did not have the means to feed all those people, but Jesus did.
Matthew 15:32-38 shows Jesus teaching 4,000 men plus women and children. Once again the disciples do not have enough food for the crowd. They have seven loaves and a few fish. They explain to Jesus that they do not have enough food for the crowd or means to get food if there were a place to obtain it in the wilderness.
At this point in my devotion, I looked back. Wasn’t it just one chapter ago that they fed 5,000+ with less food than they had now? Yes, yes, it was. My heart was challenged. How often do I do like the disciples and forget the amazing-ness of God’s care and provision, looking instead at the problem?
Ouch.
As you know, Jesus again fed the multitude with seven baskets left over this time. Jesus did it again.
What are you facing now? Jesus can take care of it. What do you need now? Jesus can provide.
It reminds me of this scene from the movie War Room!
