Daily Dose of Encouragement: Romans 15:1-2

Romans 15:1-2

“15 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.”

I can hear you saying now that you are not strong. However, in the context of this passage, it is talking about spiritual strength and weakness. Paul has just been talking about those who will and will not eat the food offered to idols. He is talking about living for others instead of ourselves.

Basically, those who are strong spiritually must bear the infirmities of those who are not as strong spiritually, or the error in thinking. It is important to be the one who is pleasing others around us for edification, helping them grow spiritually and closer to Christ.

In other words, it is not all about us. We need to live in such a way as to draw others to Him. Sometimes, we are the strong. Sometimes we are the weak. We all go through different times of need. We need each other.
