Daily Dose of Encouragement: One Another Passages, Part 3

As brothers and sisters of God, children of God, we are to take care of one another.

Sometimes, it is not easy to take care of one another. I am currently enjoying a book by Scott Mehl entitled, Loving Messy People. Truth be told, we are all messy people. None of us are perfect.

So, how do we take care of these messy people in our family of God? Thankfully, God has given us some instructions. (I found a pdf list of the One Another passages which I am using as we stroll through them.) We will look at a few more today.

  • Admonish one another (Notice that “admonish” means to caution someone gently.)
    • Romans 15:14, “14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.”
    • Colossians 3:16, “16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
  • Care for one another
  • Serve one another
    • Galatians 5:13, “13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”
  • Bear one another’s burdens
    • Galatians 6:2, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

What do you see in these verses as we love one another in Christ? How can we apply these verses even while going through disability and isolation ourselves?

As I go through these passages, I am reminded again and again that our lives as Christians should be marked with love and grace towards each other. We should be caring for one another!
