Daily Dose of Encouragement: Hebrews 11:32-40, Part 3

Hebrews 11:32-40

As we complete the chapter, the author of Hebrews shows that there is not room to tell all the stories of the faithful. Look at what these people saw through faith!

Let’s look at verses 34-35:

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

WOW! Do you see it? They quenched fire, escaped swords, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, and turned armies to flight? Wait, what? They also saw women receive dead raised to life. Woah!

That is amazing! It also brings me much joy and courage. For, you see, they were made strong and valiant. Do you see it? We don’t have to be strong and valiant on our own. The same God they had then is the same God we have today. He is just as powerful. These faithful people saw amazing things happen simply by their faith.

As I read these verse, I thought of a movie that God used mightily in my life. Faith Like Potatoes. I strongly encourage you to watch it. You see, this same God can work through our weakness and make us strong and valiant. Yes, even in our disability and chronic illness.

Others were tortured for their faith. They didn’t accept deliverance as they were focused on a better resurrection. They were focused on God’s plan. They put God first no matter the cost. This faith cost many their lives and yet they counted that cost worth it for Jesus. Many today are also tortured for Christ and give their lives willingly for Him.

Selah. Amen!
