From simply meditating on these four verses yesterday, what did you learn? For me, there is so much packed into them that it may take a bit to get through them. Today, let’s focus on Hebrews 11:13.
“13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”
The first thing that I see is that these faithful people that we have looked at so far (Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Sarah) all were faithful without receiving the fruition of the promises. They knew what God had promised, but fully believed without receiving the final promise. They embraced where God had them, the time that God had them living, and the circumstances in which God had them. They realized that they were strangers on this earth, just traveling through.
I don’t know about you, but I always want answers right away. I want to know things now. However, faith takes a different path. Faith simply rests in God that He will have the answers and timing. Faith accepts the where, when, and how from God.
Wow… tomorrow we move on to verse 14. Keep meditating on this passage!
