Daily Dose of Encouragement: Psalm 119:71-72

How do you feel about affliction? Me personally, I don’t like it!

The verses for today are hard to understand and harder to practice in our human-ness. However, we can see things differently in Christ.

Psalm 119:71-72

“71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.”

What?! It is good to be afflicted? Hmmm… that makes me stop and think. Why does the Psalmist say that it is good to be afflicted?

It is because there is something greater. Learning His statutes. His statutes are better than silver and gold.

Woah. The purpose of the affliction is greater and more precious than the difficulty of the affliction. Knowing God better is more valuable than the pain of our affliction.

Selah. Amen.
