Faithful Friday

The faithfulness of God is incredible. Recently, I have been contemplating how much more peace comes when I simply accept what comes and know that God is in control. The truth of God’s faithfulness no matter whether I like what is happening or not, the knowledge that He is in control and not taken by surprise, and the comfort that He is with me through it all bring contentment. I am finding that one can have rest, peace, joy, and contentment even as one dislikes what is happening. It is that peace that passes all understanding.

A friend from college recently posted this quote from Roy Zuck which resonated with me on God’s faithfulness and how it affects us: “Having been made more aware that God is God, Job asked no more questions. He then knew that he could live with his problems, unanswered as they were, because he knew that God had not forsaken him. Like Job, we can contemplate the rain and the raven, the dawn and the donkey, the stupid ostrich and the fierce [leviathan], and realize that God’s care for them implies His care for us. His creation and control of nature assure us of His all-sufficient ability to care for us too. Instead of searching frantically for an elusive answer to the perennial “why?” the Christian can enjoy life by resting in God. Instead of pounding the walls in angered frustration, he can quietly accept God’s designs, knowing that His grace is sufficient (2 Cor. 12:9), that His way is perfect(Ps. 18:30) and that, as Job learned, He is ‘full of compassion and is merciful’ (James 5:11)”

Wow. That quote sums it up. God is faithful. We can rest.
