Daily Dose of Encouragement: Colossians 3:12-14

We have mentioned before how this time of year can be a bit rough for we who are isolated, disabled, and chronically ill. The days are dreary; getting out can be difficult. I do understand as I live that life and walk that journey. Today, we want to look at this time in a different way, in the light of love for others.

Colossians 3:12-14, “12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”

So, as we are in the time of year that is the most difficult time for discouragement, let’s remember what God asks us to put on in the verses we just read. Let’s forbear with those around us and forgive them, even when it is obvious that they are not understanding what we are going through. These verses don’t say to do it only when we feel like it or are doing well ourselves, but simply ask us to put on these things.

Over all, put on love (charity in the KJV). Love one another!
