“40 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.”
Waiting comes with the territory if you have any medical issues at all. To obtain an appointment with a specialist… waiting. To receive insurance authorization… waiting. To heal from injury/illness… more waiting. To put up with a body that is slow… waiting. To have connection with people… waiting.
Sometimes, we wait until an expected “end date” only to have to wait longer. Waiting, waiting, waiting.
When I saw these verses, I was impressed with David’s response to waiting. He waited patiently. I admit that I struggle to wait patiently. His waiting had him in a horrible pit with his feet in miry clay.
David had obviously called unto God from his place of waiting for the verse says that God inclined unto him and heard him.
God then did several things when the waiting was over. He brought David out of this pit with miry clay, set His feet upon a rock, established his goings and put a new song in his mouth. All of this became a testimony to others who would fear and trust the Lord.
Isn’t that amazing? The distress in waiting became a testimony to others as God brought David out. Wow! Just wow! God can do that for us as well!
