Today, there is no audio as I awoke with a very bass voice. Fun times.
Philippians 4:6-7, “6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
The word “careful” means “anxious.” Woah. Anxiety and depression walk hand in hand with chronic illness, disability, and isolation.
Before we go any further, I do want to acknowledge that there can be physical or mental illness causes for anxiety that are beyond simply being “anxious.” Please do not misconstrue what I am saying to be that if you simply pray all of that will go away. Sometimes, we need medical intervention. Please know that I understand that. And, even if your anxiety is caused by physical or mental illness, know that the verse is still true. God will still walk the path with you.
These verses tell us not to be anxious about things, not to worry about things. Notice that the verse uses both the word “prayer” or taking things to God and “supplication” which means entreating or asking. We are talking to God and urgently asking Him to help with thanksgiving knowing that He will answer. Then, His peace comes. He keeps our minds and hearts. Wow.
As we live with the anxiety that comes with our situation, talk to God in boldness and ask Him with thanksgiving knowing He will answer. Then, He brings peace, precious peace. He will help us.
