“1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Are you in a season of distress when all seems too much for you? when it seems there are no answers? when it is overwhelming?
In the first part of chapter 4, David is calling unto God in distress. He remembers what God has done previously in his times of need and calls on God again. He asks for mercy and for God to hear him. This, in itself, is encouraging.
Then, look at what David says in the end of the chapter. He is still in danger. Yet, David will sleep in peace. Why? He has complete trust in God. For, God alone is in control.
I don’t know about you, but these verses encourage my heart. God is in control!
