Our verse for today is Psalm 55:22, “22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Perhaps your New Year did not start out the way you had anticipated. Perhaps you are feeling so alone or disappointed or hurt or fearful right now. Perhaps you feel as if you cannot go any further.
Dealing with daily chronic illness and disability can be wearying. Cast your burden on the Lord. Let Him carry it.
How do you do that? I don’t have any easy answers but I can tell you a starting point. To begin, tell Jesus. Yes, just talk to Him about it. Tell Him everything, even all the feelings that you wouldn’t share with others. Remember what He has done in the past. Read His Word. Meditate on it. (Psalms are a great place to start.) Spend time with Him even if it is while you are going through the chaos that can come with our situation. He cares; He will sustain you.
The hymn, “Tell It To Jesus” came to mind. Here is the first verse:
1 Are you weary, are you heavyhearted?
Tell it to Jesus,
Tell it to Jesus;
Are you grieving over joys departed?
Tell it to Jesus alone.
Chorus:
Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus,
He is a friend that’s well known;
You’ve no other such a friend or brother,
Tell it to Jesus alone.
