Have you ever watched a bridegroom taking care of his bride?
Love shines from his eyes. He wants the best for her. He wants to care for her.
Jesus is the bridegroom of the church. He loves us. He wants to care for us.
Matthew 9:15, “15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.”
John 3:29, “29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
Revelation 21:9, “9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
Jesus is the bridegroom, the head of the church, the body.
Ephesians 5:23, “23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”
Ephesians 4:15-16, “15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
Do you see that this is personal? Jesus is our bridegroom, our head. This requires a personal relationship. He cares about your joys and sorrows, your everyday life. In isolation, we can long for someone to understand. He does!
