Man of Sorrows. At first, this may not seem as if it is such an encouraging name for our precious Jesus. However, it means that Jesus understands our sorrow.
Isaiah 53:3, “3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”
He suffered pain, grief, rejection, and sorrow just as we do. He came to bear our sorrows. He came to die in our place. There is comfort knowing that He understands! Whatever you are going through, He understands!
He was born to die so that you and I could live.
