Gratefulness: What are you thankful for today?
Today, I am thankful for transportation!
Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 24: You never know who your testimony may affect.
Revelation 14:13, “13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
One of our devotions a bit ago was on Eric Liddell. He was the Olympic Champion who later went as a missionary to China and spent time in a Chinese internment camp before passing of a brain tumor. His work followed him. While in that situation, he ministered to the others in the camp, particularly the children.
Stephen Metcalf was one of those children. Eric profoundly impacted his life.
Stephen was tempted to be resentful after Eric passed. Instead, he chose to follow Jesus’ way in Matthew 5:44-45, “44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Stephen told God that if he came out of the camp alive he would go as a missionary to Japan, the very ones who were imprisoning him. He would go on to win many Japanese to Christ.
Eric Liddell was faithful when he had little, when all hope seemed lost. God used this “little” mightily. (Luke 21:1-4; Matthew 14:15-21; 1 Kings 17:8-16) In the midst of all our trials, may we live faithfully. You never know how God will use it!
