Grateful November, Day 21

Gratefulness: What are you thankful for today?

Today, I am thankful for furniture. It is something easily taken for granted, but I am grateful.

Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 21: One of the first missionaries that I learned about as a child was Amy Carmichael. I remember the story vividly of how she wanted blue eyes. She prayed for God to change this feature about her, but God did not. She still had brown eyes. Later, she realized that her brown eyes were planned by God as they allowed her to rescue Indian children from the temples. Blue eyes would have given away her disguise.

Amy Carmichael was a missionary to India who rescued many, many children. Did you know that she was rejected by a mission board and had to leave another mission field due to her health and spent her last years as a total invalid?

In all this, she remained faithful. She asked God to make her will His will. (Psalm 32:8, Psalm 25:9, Psalm 40:8) She wrote an amazing work entitled, If.” This poem shows how to live out Calvary love in daily life and has long-challenged  my heart. It meant even more when I learned of her struggles.
