Grateful November, Day 17

Gratefulness: What are you thankful for today?

Today, I am thankful for strength. I am thankful for the days when my body is stronger and for the days when I am weaker for on those days God’s strength flows through.

Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 17: William Tyndale had an amazing boldness for God even in the midst of opposition and a martyr’s death. He said, “Christ is with us until the world’s end. Let his little flock be bold therefore.”

He knew the truth of Luke 12:4-7, “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

What did Tyndale stand for? He suffered greatly and was eventually martyred in order to have the Bible translated into English. His famous quote addressing church leaders is, “If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy who drives a plough to know more of the scriptures than you do.” Through his work, his quote came to pass.

I am thankful for William Tyndale’s boldness. Having Scripture in one’s heart language is crucial.
