Gratefulness: What are you thankful for today?
Today, I am thankful for holiday decor. I enjoy it, especially if it contains the word “joy.” The past few years, my allergies have meant being very careful and selective in what I can have out. Yesterday, my niece surprised me by stopping by with new “safe” decor. It came on a stressful day. It was a blessing.
The holiday decor reminds me of God’s faithfulness through each season of life. It points me back to Him. He is a faithful God.
Genesis 8:22, “22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
Lamentations 3:22-23, “22 It is of the Lord‘s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Hebrews 13:8, “8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
So, as seasons change and we put up new decor, I always want it to point me to Him, to the One who is in each season and never changes. This brings me joy.
Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 16: Sometimes I forget. I forget that those great Christians who came before us had trials and tribulations. It is easy to put them on a pedestal.
Today’s devotion is about the man more commonly known as “Saint Patrick.”
Psalm 50:15, “15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”
Did you know that Patrick of Ireland was kidnapped and made a slave? God used this time to bring Him to salvation. He escaped, but returned to Ireland as a missionary. He went on to bring many people to Jesus Christ.
Throughout this, He knew that God was always with him. His prayer shows that He knew from whence his power and strength came.
It is interesting to note that he was not famous during his life-time. He lived most of it in obscurity. He lived relying on God and seeking to please Him.
Our life today may be in isolation. Yet, God is with us. We move forward in His strength.
