Gratefulness: What are you thankful for today?
Today, I am thankful for rest.
Psalm 37:7 says, “7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Exodus 33:14, “14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
Rest. In this context it means to be waiting, to be quiet. We are at rest, waiting on Him. We are at rest, quiet and not anxious.
These verses are great reminders as we face challenges today.
Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 15: “Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.” ~William Carey (Daring Devotion, Matt Conrad, Church Works Media, 2020)
I heard this quote often growing up as a preacher’s kid. But, who is this William Carey? Did he live this quote?
William Carey was a preacher who was a humble man, a shoemaker who was not handsome or of great stature. Yet, God got ahold of his heart. When He did, William Carey was transformed and began to witness to those around him. His vision increased to the point that he became known as “The Father of Modern Missions.”
If God can do that with William Carey, He can use us as well. Our circumstances and health would not hold us back. We can “Expect great things from God” and “attempt great things for God.”
