Grateful November, Day 8

Gratefulness: Today, I am thankful for doctors, nurses, and all medical personnel.

Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 8: Isobel Kuhn, missionary to China, learned that life is not about the amazing times, but about the daily monotony. We need to be faithful in these times.

It is interesting to me that we are looking at this today. I was just frustrated with the daily of living with the chronic illness. You know… the tedious monotony of needed items to stay healthy. The daily physical and occupational therapy, medicines, etc. Yet, it is in these times that we show our joy and faithfulness. It is where our character is shown. Even in these times, we can labor for God.

John 6:27, “27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.”

While Isobel was serving, she had to keep up with the daily survival tasks of life, but continued to do God’s work. Eternal work was done. She continued to labor even when all seemed lost. God used her mightily in China.

As we face the monotony of chronic illness and disability, the hard, may God help us to see His work in it. May we continue to look for opportunities to live for Him.
