Grateful November, Day 6

Gratefulness: It is so true that we take things for granted until we don’t have them. Today, I am thankful for soap, shampoo, lotion, and other beauty products. My new allergy means that I am allergic to an ingredient in all of these things. It became a necessity to quickly learn how to make these things. Now, I have a new gratitude for them! God is good and provided.

Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 6: Today’s missionary is one with whom I was not familiar. His name is George Liele. His desire was to serve God in any way, no matter what. The book quotes him, “I full well recollect, I requested of my Lord and Master to give me a work, I did not care how mean it was, only to try to see how good I would do it.” (Daring Devotion, Matt Conrad, Church Work Media, 2020)

George began churches and congregations wherever he went. The amazing part is that he was a slave, freed by his master to pursue God’s work, endured the war in the 1770’s, and went to Jamaica where he ministered to the slaves. 20,000 people in Jamaica came to know Christ.

Many would not have thought that George could do a work for Christ as he was born a slave. However, George was willing to do a work for God; God used him. Amazing!
