Philippians: Joy in the Midst

Our November study is based off of Philippians: Joy in the Midst, by Carrie Gaul. It will be an overview of the book/study. This study has been used in my life to change my perspective.

Today, we will being our look at an overview of Philippians by looking briefly at Days 1-2. As we go through this study, it is suggested that you mark on a copy of Philippians. The study provides a copy. You could also write or print out a copy if you do not want to mark your Bible.

Take the time to read or listen through Philippians today. What are your first impressions of the book? Paul wrote the book. What was his situations? How does he respond to his situation? To learn more about Paul, the book suggests reading: Acts 7:58-8:3; 11:19-26; 2 Corinthians 11: 25-33; 12:7-10.

The 2 Corinthians truly spoke to my heart. Look at all he went through. Yet, what is his attitude? 2 Corinthians 11:30 tells how he glories in the infirmities. We learn why in 12:7-10. Look specifically at verses 9-10: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

You see, Paul knew that when he was weak, Christ’s strength is what shone through. This is an amazing perspective!
