Where is it?

When going through dark times, hard times, and lonely times, where do we find joy? Where is it?

It certainly isn’t in the isolation and pain.

Where is it?

Our joy is in God. Look at these verses:

  • Jeremiah 15:16, “16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.”
  • Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.”
  • Psalm 16:11, “11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
  • 1 Peter 1:8, “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:”

Joy is found in our God. And, as we have joy in Him, we also find our strength.

Nehemiah 8:10, “10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Oh, there is so much to unpack in that verse and chapter, but for now, we will look at the joy of the Lord being our strength.)
