He Will Joy Over You

The day to day of life with chronic illness, disability, isolation, and care-giving can be tedious and monotonous. Each day is long. It is easy to begin to feel that we have nothing left to give God. We may feel less than lovely, less than lovable even though we know He loves.

This verse touches my heart each time I read it.

Zephaniah 3:17, “17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”

Look at that. God:

  • is in our midst. He is with us in the day to day, in the battle, in the good times and in the bad.
  • is mighty. He is mighty. He is able to withstand all that we are going through.
  • will save. He will save us out of all of this. He has the long view in mind and will save us.
  • will rejoice over you with joy. Did you catch that? He is rejoicing over you with joy.
  • will rest in His love. I pondered this one. God rests in His love. If He is resting in His love, we can rest in His love. He is confident in His love.
  • will joy over you with singing. Picture a father singing over his little one from pure joy at the little one. God does that with us. He joys over us with singing.

Wow! Let that sink in on a day that may feel mundane and a bit gray. Joy and song may fill your heart.
