David had enemies. Do you have enemies? Oh, I don’t mean that you are in hiding for your life as David was. Do you face enemies of fear, depression, loneliness, ill health, and so on? You can name them.

2 Samuel 22:3-4, “22 And David spake unto the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: ² And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; ³ The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. ⁴ I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” (KJV)

The Lord delivered David out of the hand of all his enemies… oh, and the hand of Saul. What is coming after you today? God can deliver you as well no matter what it is.

As I thought about this passage, I noticed something. Yes, David is praising God for saving him from his enemies. He is exalting Him. But, notice verse four. David realizes that he will fight enemies again. He knows where to go if… err… when… he does. He will call on the Lord, the very Lord that he says is his trustworthy, his rock, fortress, deliverer, shield, horn of salvation, high tower, refuge, and savior. I think that covers battling any enemy.

We have an amazing God who can fight our enemies. Who are you going to call today? I will call on the Lord!
