Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

How is your week going? Are you a bit overwhelmed? Let’s look to Jesus.

Today, I needed these verses. As expected, life is a bit overwhelming as we approach the new school year. These verses were both a challenge and encouragement to me today.

Hebrews 12:1-3: “12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

There is a cloud of witnesses watching us. We must lay aside weight and sin and run with patience. We look at our great author and finisher of our faith, Jesus, who saw the coming joy. He endured the cross. He despised the shame. He is now at the right hand of the throne of God.

Look at the next verse. We consider Jesus who endured this against Himself so that we are not weary or faint in our minds. We can be encouraged as we look to Jesus, as we turn our eyes upon Jesus!
