It is so easy to think that if I just had good health, if I could just get out of the house, if I just had money to pay bills or this or that, if I just … you fill in the blank. Yet, when we obtain whatever “that” is, we are still unsatisfied.
The past few months, I have been able to get out a bit more which has been wonderful. Truly, I am so grateful. I am already working to prepare my heart for the winter/flu season ahead which means several months of isolation again. However, as wonderful as this has been and no matter how much I am grateful and don’t take it for granted, being able to get out of the house doesn’t satisfy.
WHAT?! No, it doesn’t satisfy. I still have a longing in my soul that needs to be satisfied. Only one thing truly satisfies. Jesus. Jesus satisfies that deep longing.
Isaiah 58:11: “11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”
Psalm 22:26: “26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.”
Psalm 107:8-9: “8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”
Psalm 17:15: “15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.”
John 6:35: “35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
Jesus satisfies. He fills that deep longing.
A book I just finished reading, Kisses from Katie, which I highly recommend. In it, she tells of the poverty of the people of Uganda. Yet, they praised the Lord. Their very poverty made them satisfied in Him for He was all they had. This book reminded me that at the times when loneliness, pain, fatigue, weariness, etc., etc., overtake me, God will satisfy.
Are you satisfied in our dear Savior? If you don’t know Him or would like to know more about being satisfied in Him no matter the circumstances, please reach out via the comments or on our Facebook page. We would love to share how He truly satisfies.
