God uses weak things. He uses foolish things.
Yesterday, I had the unique opportunity of meeting a group of people who had only known me for my work, never seeing my disability. My hearts prayer was that God would be glorified. My weakness is obvious when you see me in person.
As I was driving to the meeting, it hit me. God may shine through more given the weakness than He would if I were strong and healthy. Without my disability and chronic illness, I would be doing things in my own strength rather than needing to cling to God daily.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29, KJV: “27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.”
It reminded me of a poem entitled, “I Would Have Pulled Joseph Out.” God uses our pain and weakness to bring Himself glory and point others to Him.
Isn’t that what is it all about? We want people to behold our God. We long for people to know Him, who He is and what He can do.
Are you struggling in your situation today? I feel you. The daily with our chronic illness, disability, and isolation is simply hard. But, God… But God can use it. He does use it.
Today, as we walk through the tough, let’s remember that God is using it. Let’s “Behold Our God.”
