Often the Lord allows a test in an area of which He has shown us. It happened yesterday. Remember I said that this area of praising and blessing the name of the Lord is something I don’t want to fail in, something I struggle with? God gave me opportunity to practice it!
Air quality is poor; the weather was not lung-conducive, if not dangerous to be out in. Typically poor air quality or even just a humid or rainy day means staying inside so as not to aggravate a lung condition. However, an urgent need for someone had me out and about on a long afternoon of errands.
I wish I could say that I was simply praising God as I went about serving this need, but I cannot. Instead, I was begging God for help with a certain bad attitude that was trying hard to overtake me. God reminded me of our verses from yesterday morning. It helped. I was still quite frustrated, still clinging to our God to change my ‘tude!
It was about that time that I reached out to a dear friend to come alongside in prayer, not with the situation, but with a certain grump. She did. I pray you have friends like that. My heart was STRUGGLING to praise, to be loving and kind.
God answered. Sometimes, He answers in a very unique way, knowing exactly what we need. This time it was with a very, very silly song that soon had all in the situation belly-laughing.
Then, it happened. A weather bulletin came across for my home-town of a tornado warning. This would mean going to the basement. However, I am literally allergic to my basement. I only go down in tornado warnings, with a heavy duty allergy mask, and still can have issues for weeks following. But… due to these errands that I didn’t want to run at that moment, I wasn’t home.
Oh… I began to see. God had me in another place to protect me. Oh. God and I had a chat where a certain daughter had to do some apologizing. 🙂
God has really been working in my heart regarding praising over everything. This doesn’t mean we necessarily like what is going on. It means we praise our sovereign God anyway.
And so, again today, we will praise. Praise 113:3, KJV: “3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.”
My friend who went to the throne for me and laughed with me yesterday sent this song. It lifted my heart immediately. I had to share with you all as well!
