LWD: His Word

Psalm 19, KJV: “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”

What is the most important part of living with disability? My relationship with God. How do I grow in that relationship? His Word!

I love the Psalm above. It shows how precious God’s Word is. Look at all it does for us:

  • converts the soul
  • makes wise the simple
  • rejoices the heart
  • enlightens the eyes
  • endures forever
  • has true and righteous judgements.
  • is more desirable than gold, fine gold
  • is sweeter than honey and honeycomb.
  • warns us
  • rewards us for keeping the statutes.

My life experience has proven the above to be true. His Word is something to be relied on day after day, moment after moment. When I lean on it, my life is changed, my countenance is lifted.

When life looks bleak, be sure to get in the Word. That Quiet Time with Him will change you, your perspective, and the problem. For, then, you will be seeing the problem through the lens of your God’s power instead of the other way around.

Job, the man in the Bible who is looked at often for his response to immense suffering, put high regard in God’s Word. He found it more needful than his necessary food. Job 23:12, “12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” Job found His Word more important than food… not just junk food, necessary food.

Whatever you need: comfort, wisdom, or knowing God more, God’s Word is able to help. What a blessing His Word is!
