Consistency: “the quality of always behaving or performing in a similar way, or of always happening in a similar way:” (Oxford Dictionary)
Change takes consistent effort to make up consistency.
Habits are hard to break, err make. (Well, they are hard to break unless you are not the one breaking them. Then, we think it should be easy for them to make a lifestyle change. Ahem…) While it has been said in the past that it takes 21 days to make a habit, recent studies show that it can take closer to two months to form a habit. This makes more sense to me than the 21-day rule based on my personal experience. The biggest key is to be consistent.
Why are we talking about consistency? Ephesians 5:15-21 teach us consistency in our Christian life. Our Christian live should have the quality of being consistent. It should be something for which we strive.
In coming days, we will be looking at things in which we need to be consistent. They should become a part of us, something we do regularly. These habits should simply be that, habits. I look forward to walking through this passage with you!
