As we continue to stroll through this passage, I am again struck by the contrast between the old and new life.
Verse 28 shows the vast difference again: “28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.” (KJV)
In this verse, we see someone going from being a thief to a hard worker for good in order to be a generous giver. I also see new purpose in our work. It is not just to meet our needs, but to be able to give to others. We work to have something to give back.
For those who are unable to physically work, let us keep this principle in mind. We can still give in many ways to meet needs that also may not be physical. A phone call, card, encouragement and prayer can be the work of our hands, so to speak. We can be used of God to give to those who are in need. Praise His Name!
What a difference this new life gives us!
