Yesterday, we saw the hopelessness apart from God. Today, in Ephesians 2:13, there is great hope. It starts with that amazing word “but” that turns everything around. There was hopelessness, but now hope!
They were far off. He had just talked to them about being outsiders and hopeless among other things in verses 11-12. The outlook had been bleak. Then, look at verse 13.
KJV – 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
But now, in Christ Jesus, are made nigh by the blood of Christ. Did you catch that? Made nigh, or brought near, as the HCSB says. Can you feel it? Relationship. Relationship with God. It changes everything.
Do you also see that it is not because of us? It is in Christ Jesus and by His blood.
This is hope! This is something our faith can rest in. It is not because we are worthy. It is all on Jesus and His blood. He paid our debt. We were separated from God, but now we have relationship. We have belonging.
Praise our Savior!
